FIBA European Qualifier
Georgia is unbeaten in the ENC and the second ranked IRB team in the competition (18th) and is favoured to progress to their third consecutive Rugby World Cup. They will play Portugal (ranked 21st in the world) who will look to win and overtake Russia to move in the World Cup qualifying zone.
The top two nations in the ENC will progress to New Zealand, and this match will be a fascinating encounter with the two nations drawing 20-20 in their last clash at the Boris Paichadze Stadium at Tbilisi in Georgia almost a year ago.
The Lelos (the Georgians name, after their local sport Lelo burti, which is very similar to rugby) are experienced hard heads, who surely are the next power to be regularly mentioned in international rugby.
While the Irish will not want reminding, the Georgians almost inflicted the greatest upset in test rugby at the 2007 Rugby World losing 14-10 to Ireland.
